First of all, I’d like to point out that I’m not a fan of paranormal romance, so this book was not my thing- not my kind of book. I’m sure that true fans of the genre will enjoy this a lot more than I did.

OK, Having gotten that outta the way, let's move on...

The bad:

For me, this book sometimes felt… overcliched. It has a lot of the things you’d expect from a paranormal romance (though sometimes it felt more like an urban fantasy rather than a PR): a possessive hero (but not a ridiculously exaggerated one, and that’s a pro), some silly jokes, sassy dialogues, every woman in town lusting after the hero; tragic pasts… and, well, among other things that I won’t spoil it for you.

The romance parts were predictable and, in my opinion, the whole Erin/Graham relationship was rushed. It wasn't exactly what you would consider an insta-love since they'd known each other forever...but, still, I think their love for each other, could have been handled a bit more...slowly? Maybe creating more sexual tension between them instead of having them falling in love with each other so abruptly

(However, that’s not necessarily a bad thing considering that this IS a paranormal romance.)

The good:

The first chapter was amazing!

Great introduction of the main characters, the setting, the special abilities and the mystery. I really thought it was going to be an awesome urban fantasy book! The author did a great job keeping the suspense high but, sadly- and since the focus was on the romance- the mystery was not very well developed. It ended up quckly getting lost on the “sexy times” parts, rather than in the investigation of the murders.

In conclusion:

It wasn’t a bad novel at all, the writing was not terrible- just the average expected in a romance novel..and, in some parts, even better!- and the main characters were well-developed, even if their relationship felt rushed.

A fun read. Great for fans of paranormal romance and romantic suspense, or for people who love romance with a good mystery.

(Not my kind of book, though.)
